- Make sure you choose products that are relevant to your business. If you are a sports shoe retailer, it would be silly to print your logo on calculators. You would be much better off choosing something that is practical, like a foot shaped keytag or even sports drink bottles. This conveys the relevance to feet and sport, while also offering a practical gift for customers to take home and remember you by.
- Your giveaways need to be given away within a context that will remind people about your brand. For example, a car insurance company gets some car shaped keytags printed with their logo and decides that all new customers will get one when they sign up or renew their policy. It would be better if that company had chosen to give the keyrings out at an event or a trade show to attract new customers as well as to existing customers.
- Use a few different products to get your brand across including, stationery for your employees, uniform add on such as caps and giveaways for promotions. This encompasses unity and reflects that your business has solidarity.
- Sell your products as part of a merchandising brand campaign. Major car companies do this well. Take Holden for example, you can buy practically anything that has the HSV logo on it and it is recognized. It shows a loyalty to the brand while advertising it at the same time. A small investment can go a long way. You can start by having a ‘shop’ link on your website which lists all of your promotional merchandise for sale. You may even make some money.
